    Description

This offering is for a sterling silver Masonic VETERAN medal with the original black leather snap case as found. The oval shaped medal reads on the face: THE MOST WORSHIPFUL GRAND LODGE OF MASSACHUSETTS. Above the bird and the beavers, it has the abbreviation: A.F.& A.M. The blue ribbon is
intact with the pinback and the bar that reads: VETERAN.
On the reverse it is engraved. It reads: PRESENTED/ TO/ BROTHER/ LEWIS C. LUTHER/ IN RECOGNITION/ OF FIFTY
YEARS/ OF/ FAITHFUL SERVICE/ 1895-6-13/ STER. The word sterling is abbreviated. The medal is thick and heavy.
I am not an expert on Masonic medals. I assume that the date 6-19-1895 is when the gentleman became a member. I am guessing that it
was awarded fifty years later in 1945.
All original patina/ tarnish. I have not cleaned it. 7 pictures.
There is a grave in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Attleboro, Mass. for a person with the same name that lived from 1870 -1956.
First class shipping in a padded envelope.
