A Rare & Important Antique Russian c.1913 solid 14K yellow and Rose Gold Presentation cigarette case. Superb Enamel monogram with Grand Duke Michaels MM applied to the top of this heavy case. This was presented from and previously owned by Russian Grand Duke Michael Mikhaelavich to the Winner of the Cannes France Golf tournament in 1913. Grand Duke Michael was the Grandson of Nicholas the 1st of Russia. This rare piece was presented to Sir Frederick Williams Taylor, who was a famous Canadian banker and general manager of the bank of Montreal at the time. He was an avid golfer as well. Grand Duke Michael was a famous Russian member of the Romanov family and This event was also attended by Grand Duke Michael Alexendravich who was to become the Tsar or emperor on his return to Russia, but was imprisoned and murdered. This important piece has the full inscription inside the case and is guaranteed to be this very case you see. The case weighs 135.8 grams of Solid 14K gold and is marked on both sides of the box with Russian maker AB and 56 for Russia translation to 14K gold. There is also a small mark next to the makers mark. So small to make out. Measures 3 3/4" long x 2 1/2. The Gold value is in the many thousands of dollars but the real value is in the incredible history of this piece. Appraised well over .000.00 and was offered to Christie's Auction house for their annual London sale. We did not want to wait the one year until this sale, so we are offering this magnificent and important piece to ebay. Guaranteed 100% Authentic.
