    Description

Rare Antique 14k Gold Freemason Masonic Adoniram Council Jewel Medal Pin
Presented is a fantastic quality 14 karat yellow gold and enamel Masonic medal,
on a purple ribbon. This piece dates to the first quarter of the 1900s, and is
presumably of American make. The top of the medal is open filigree work with a
stylized banner reading 'Adoniram Council.' The main portion of the medal is a
triangle, with a hallway design in the center. The hallway's floor is picked out
in black and white checkerboard enamel, with a hanging 'plumb' center bearing a
Hebrew letter and a trowel in a keystone at the top. The enamel work is
exceptional in quality, easily some of the best we've seen in Masonic pieces.
The gold is heavy weight and solid, with a fine matte finish. The pin has a
lever catch style clasp. The medal comes in a black leather case with velvet
    lining.
This piece is in excellent overall condition. The enamel is all intact. The
clasp functions well and closes securely. On the face of the triangle portion is
a curious little 'swoop' on the righthand side, that seems almost like a
deliberate engraving, possibly from when it was made, though we aren't sure.
Please let the photos guide your judgment. There are no breaks and no repairs.
This piece is stamped and guaranteed 14k on the clasp. The entirety of the
medal is 14 karat gold, nitric acid tested and guaranteed.
The total length is about 5 inches, including the ribbon. The width at the
widest point is about 2 ¼ inches.
The total weight for the piece is 30.5 grams. A tiny amount of this weight is
in the short length of ribbon, but the vast majority of the weight is 14 karat
    gold.
