    Description

    Rare Working 1901 Pan-American Exhibition Novelty Souvenir Frying Pan Clock by C.P. Chouffer New York
    This is a very rare circa 1901 novelty souvenir frying pan clock made for the 1901 Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. It is metal and measures 11 1/2" tall x 6" wide. It features a color transfer with angels which is marked "PAN-AMERICAN EXPOSITION 1901 BUFFALO U.S.A." and also in very small print "Copyright 1899 by Pan-American Exposition Co." The back of the handle is embossed " Mfgd. by C.F. Chauffer Jeweler-Buffalo, N.Y."
    It uses a one day balance wheel movement. The clock was not running when we purchased it at a recent antique clock sale so we removed the back cover and applied a couple of drops of oil and it has been running good ever since. We also took a photo of the movement at that time. The clock is in overall very good condition with only slight wear to the black paint and gold numerals and a few minor nicks and scratches. The color transfer is in very nice condition.
