carved shell clock Indian Chief 1901 Pan-American Expo Buffalo Niagara Falls

Description

Here is a beautifully carved shell with the profile of a stylized Native American Indian wearing full headdress, surmounted with a wind-up clock and painted Niagara Falls on the front.  A small handwritten note on the back relates this was purchased as a souvenir during the 1901 Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York.  It measures 7" tall.  The carved artwork truly shimmers!
Condition:  exceptional shell, not sure if the clock works.
