Antique/Vintage Pan-American Exposition 1901 Frying Skillet Clock for Restoration
Up for bid and for your consideration is an antique/vintage Pan-American Exposition 1901, Buffalo, U.S.A., wind-up, time only clock. For parts or to restore.
This clock is a great souvenir of the Expo and would be a really nice addition to any Expo collection! To you  clock collectors, it would be a different addition to your novelty collection, deserving of restoration!
The details:
This clock measures 11-1/2 inches tall, about 6 inches wide and about 1-1/2 inches deep including the winding key.
The pan is painted black with gold Arabic numerals. There are some drips showing in the paint. One starts under the decal and ends between the 5 and the 6 on the front, and another is on the back running next to the key and running towards the center. The center artwork is a decal or litho printing with the logo of the Exposition, North and
South America represented as beautiful women in flowing robes, and the wording: Pan-American Exposition * 1901 * Buffalo * U * S * A *  Then: Copyright 1899 by  Pan-American Exposition Co. There is a 3/4 inch scratch in the artwork between the one and two positions and running towards the center. And a smaller scratch between the 8 and 9 positions. The word "Official" is printed in gold at the base of the handle, on the top side of the pan.
There is a screw missing at the 12 position that helps hold the movement cover on the back. There are screws at the 4 and 8 positions that do the job well.
The hands are missing. I believe it should have black or gold spade hands. They could be easily replaced if you have the proper hands. The winding key is present. You would set the clock by moving the minute hand clockwise to the desired time.
The underside of the handle is marked in raised letters: Mfg'd by C.F. Chouffer Jeweler ­­-Buffalo, N.Y.
The clock does not work. It doesn't even tick for a few seconds if you rock it back and forth. It is wound tight, so I would say the mainspring is intact, but definitely in need of cleaning and oiling.
Cosmetically this clock is in O.K. condition. There are many dings, scratches and marks and the pan itself is slightly out of round. The photos show the details well. It would be a nice project clock or could be used for parts. The artwork and the printing show well, it's the movement that, I think, needs the most attention.
