A beautiful diamond and sapphire link bracelet from the Art Deco era signed by Newark, NJ maker Allsopp and Allsopp. Crafted in 14k yellow gold topped with platinum, this bracelet is comprised of hinged box links that form a line bracelet. A gorgeous etched design decorates the links and catches the sunlight for added sparkle. The two diamonds weighing approximately .05 ct each alternate with three square cut sapphires turned on point that have a total approximate weight of .15 each. These sapphires are a lighter cornflower blue tone rather than the dark royal blue color commonly seen. Sapphires are untested for origin and unknown if they are natural or synthetic. Synthetic sapphires were common in this era of jewelry. The total weight of all gemstones is approximately 0.55 ctw. Fine milgrain detail embellishes the entire piece, even the sides of each link are decorated so that a lovely pattern is visible when looking at the piece from any angle when worn. The bracelet is 7.25 inches long and has a safety chain attached. The bracelet is in excellent antique condition. Signs of normal age related wear to the gemstones only visible under magnification.
Allsopp and Allsopp was founded in 1901 by brothers Thomas and Edmund F. Allsopp of Newark, NJ. In 1905 brothers Albert and Frank joined the firm. At the Newark Industrial Exposition of 1916 Allsopp and Allsopp registered for a display booth where they featured Platinum and gold jewelry and the “Original” flexible bracelet, Gem-set lavaliers, Gem-set Gold or Platinum link bracelets, Intricate brooches, bar pins and pendants, scarf pins, baby pins, and knives. At the tail end of the Great Depression in 1933 the business closed. Information about the trademark from Lang Antiques Antique Jewelry University Trademark Archive.
