AC-130U Spooky II Gunship patch
.  Large, colorful patch measures 4.5" x 4.5".  The U model Gunship comes from a distinguished line of Air Force side firing gunships.  Named after the legendary Vietnam era AC-47 Spooky Gunship (also known as "Puff the Magic Dragon"), the son of Spooky has been a workhorse in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia and Libya supporting US and Allied ground forces.
The patch highlights the dual target attack capability of the U model gunship with the GAU-12 25mm five barrel gatling gun in one hand and a lightning bolt representing both the 40mm and 105mm howitzer in the other. The ring of fire circling the patch represents the tracer fire from early gunships when tracer fire was needed for target acquisition.  Flown mostly at night and able to strike through instrument meteorlogical conditions (clouds), there's no better sound to friendly ground forces than Spooky overhead.
