    Description

    Pan- American Exposition
Here are 3 souvenir envelopes from the Pan American Exposition that took place in Buffalo New York between May 1 and November 2, 1901
    They all measure 3 5/8" x 6 1/2"
Each shows a different building that was erected just for the Expo.
First is the Manufacturers and Liberal Arts Building which was designed by George Shepley
Then there's the US Government Building which was designed by James Knox Taylor
The last is the Ethnology Building which was designed by George Cary
All those buildings were later demolished. The only building you can still see from the 1901 Pan American Exposition is the New York State Building which is now the Buffalo History Museum
The 1901 Exposition is best remembered as the site of President William McKinley's assassination. It was also one of the first great displays of AC current electricity which was generated in nearby Niagara Falls and the first display of the all new X-Ray machine
