The Ford Falcon is an unsung hero of American automotive history. The Falcon was Ford's compact sedan, offered in various configurations, including a "Ranchero" ute and a panel van. Early cars were powered either by an I4 or an I6, which provided excellent fuel economy and adequate power for the average consumer. The cars sold well and were offered in higher trim "Futura" and "Sprint" models, but it wasn't until 1963 that Ford began offering the Falcon with an optional 260 cubic-inch V8. The 260 produced 164 horsepower and was mated to either a 3-speed automatic or a 4-speed manual transmission. With the introduction of this new V8, Ford increased the performance of the Falcon significantly and created a genuine predecessor to the pony car.
This 1964 Ford Falcon Futura Convertible is a highly desirable specification, finished in a striking, authentic shade of Rangoon Red over a black interior. The exterior and interior of this car show beautifully and benefit from a recent high-quality restoration. This car was particularly well-optioned when new, including a 260cui V8 engine, a 4-speed manual transmission, and bucket seats. In place of the original 260 sits a freshly build, period-correct 5-bolt Ford 289 V8. The engine has roughly 500 miles on its current build and produces significantly improved power from stock. The suspension and braking received a complete overhaul during the restoration, and the car sits atop a set of polished Ridler 675 wheels. The result is a phenomenal driving experience that improves upon the classic feeling of an American pony car. This Falcon has been thoroughly sorted and is in turn-key condition, ready to take on the open roads ahead.
